The Dominican Government announced the construction of about 3,000 hotel rooms and an international airport in Bahia de las Aguilas (Eagles Bay) under a combined investment with the private sector. The Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic , Francisco Javier Garcia, informed that the president flew to the zone to discuss the subject and establish a development plan with the investors involved.

“We went to Pedernales to discuss on site, the territorial plan the investment plan, to work and to propose what are the State actions
that the Government will do for the first 3,000 rooms of high standard that are going to be built in Pedernales. To work so that Pedernales has a modern airport and above all, it seemed like a meeting where we discussed that we had to start immediately,” said the Minister.

The president of the Dominican Republic, Danilo Medina, asked the private investors to return to the country with the final proposal and plan to start the project that will revamp the south region and promote the tourism and ecological development of probably the unexploited region with the most tourism potential in the country.
