The income in foreign currency generated by tourism, classified in the “Travel” account of the Balance of Payments, is estimated to amount to US $ 4,126.2 million in the first half of 2018, for an increase of 9.0% with respect to 2017.

The figures are contained in the Tourist Barometer report carried out by the Technical Vice-Ministry of the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur).

It should be noted that this line of the Dominican tourism sector is the largest source of foreign currency earnings in the country. Likewise, an increase in tax revenues is estimated (Exit Tax and Tourism Card).
