At the end of the first semester of this year 2018, a total of 54 thousand 657 air operations have been registered in the airports of the country, actions that put in Dominican territory to 3 million 440 thousand 805 non-resident passengers, which means a growth rate 6.1%, as established by the Tourist Barometer prepared by the Technical Vice-Ministry of the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur).
The aforementioned report shows that the hotel occupancy was 78,222 rooms, which represents a lodging rate of 82.3% for the recently completed semester.
Likewise, the income received for the expenses of these tourists was US $ 4,126.2, for the referred period.
During the first 6 months of 2018, the country received 3,440,805 non-resident visitors, by air, which represented an increase of 199,134 additional visitors with respect to the same period of 2017 and an accumulated growth of 6.1%.
In this sum, foreign passengers stand out, which amounted to 3,015, 258 with an increase of 5.0% (144,947 additional visitors).
While Dominicans reached 425,547, for an additional 14.6% which means about 54,187 travelers added.
Only in the month of June 2018, 497,997 foreign visitors arrived to the country, of which 353,757, 71.0% did so through the Punta Cana Airport; while for the Americas (AILA) 82.523 reached 16.6%.
Also by the Luperón in Puerto Plata and the Internacional del Cibao in Santiago, 4.5% and 5.6%, respectively. The remaining 2.3% corresponds to the arrivals by La Romana; Juan Bosch El Catey de Samaná and La Isabela in the Dominican capital.
