The president of the Association of Hotels and Tourist Projects of the East Zone (Asoleste), Ernesto Veloz, valued as very important and positive the support that, by express instructions of the Attorney General of the Republic, Jean Alain Rodríguez, the Public Ministry is giving him to the entire tourist coast of Punta Cana, Bávaro and Uvero Alto.
Through a statement, Veloz said that the magistrate Rodriguez decided to increase the number of prosecutors who offer service in that demarcation and stressed the speed with which the official authorized them to come to the hotels to meet requirements of tourists visiting the area, when necessary.
He said that, although the area of Punta Cana has a very low incidence of crimes against tourists, it is right to allow that when someone is a victim, representatives of the Public Prosecutor’s Office interview him in the hotel where he is staying, as this mitigates the negative impact that this causes
The president of Asoleste also highlighted the understanding, consideration, and collaboration that Jean Rodríguez has always had towards the dynamics of tourism, indicating that this attitude contributes significantly to tourists taking a favorable experience of their trip to the country.
Veloz explained that this initiative authorized by the Attorney General of the Republic, was suggested by the honorary consul of Spain in Punta Cana, Javier Moreno and that his application was informed by the titular prosecutor of La Altagracia province, Edwin Encarnación, of whom He highlighted his efficiency, commitment, and willingness.
